A return to wood engraving

I have recently returned to wood engraving (where my printmaking life began) after many years and the little rose hip block here is the first piece I engraved to toughen up my fingertips and reacquaint myself with my favourite spitsticker. Why did I leave it so long? I love working with wood and it is so much easier! Never mind, there has been a flurry of activity since in preparation for a piece I have been asked to make for a boxed set for the Society of Wood Engravers called Autumn. After engraving various blocks with autumnal seed heads and flowers, as a dedicated apple eater I settled on this autumnal fruit as my subject and for good measure added a nude: hence the resulting Eve and the Apple.
